introducing

Musly Ramlee as P. Ramlee

His talent has been honed over 12 years since he won a contest, Bintang P. Ramlee, in Sarawak in 1996, but his stars have suddenly taken a turn for fame since landing the lead role in this musical.

It’s been a crazy 6 weeks for me, with my day starting as early as 8.30am at the gym, then classes with Reza Zainal Abidin my acting coach, then vocal lessons, one-on-one rehearsals with Adlin then rehearsals with the rest of my co-stars and ensemble, till 11.30pm.

My favourite P. Ramlee film is Ibu Mertua Ku, where a rich girl marries a poor musician and her parents are dead against it. I like it for the biographical references to P. Ramlee himself. “P. Ramlee is my inspiration now... I am confident that I will bring the “traditional” P. Ramlee – which his fans know and love– to the stage. I will bring the spirit and soul of P. Ramlee to the younger generation so that they will learn to appreciate and love him in the way that I do.”

Liza Hanim as Saloma

It all started as a dream, a young girl who loved to sing and act in front of a mirror with a hairbrush as a microphone. Now, that girl Haliza Hanim Abd Halim or Liza Hanim has achieved more than she has ever dreamed of.She started her singing career as a recording artist at the tender age of 17, immediately after her SPM examination. Her first film was KL Menjerit, produced in the year 2001. Her debut act received rave reviews from the media and industry and she acted in several movies after that, but singing has always been her first love.

2007 brings a whole new meaning for her when she was casts as Saloma in P.Ramlee The Musical Season 1. Her first experience in a musical, brought two elements she loved most, singing and acting together.
